Ms. Zei grew up in Laurium and graduated from Calumet High School. She received both her B.S. and M.S. in mathematics from Michigan Tech as well as her certification in secondary education. In addition to teaching mathematics at Chassell, Ms. Zei also teaches calculus at MTU.
At Chassell, Ms. Zei is the junior class advisor. She is also a member of the school technology committee, school improvement committee, and the crisis team. Ms. Zei is also the faculty advisor to The Panther Credit Union.
She is also active within the community. Ms. Zei is on the City of Houghton Board of Review and on the Houghton Housing Commission. She also works as an election inspector for the City of Houghton. Additionally, Ms. Zei is on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Tech Employees Federal Credit Union serving as the Vice Chair for the board.
Ms. Zei enjoys music. She is an accompanist for Trinity Episcopal Church. She is the principal clarinetist in the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra and plays in the orchestra for The Calumet Players.
She enjoys reading, walking, and gardening at her home in Houghton where she lives with her son Michael.
