This is Mrs. Van Kleeck’s third year at Chassell as a teacher. Mrs. Van Kleeck received her BSE at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in early childhood education (nursery school thru 6th grade.) After working as an assistant in a resource room after graduation from college she went back to school to earn the necessary credits to receive her special education certification at the University of Wisconsin Madison and Whitewater. She has taken many graduate classes in education and computers at universities in Indiana, too.
Mrs. Van Kleeck’s interest in teaching began when she was little and would play school with the neighborhood children. In her junior and senior years of high school she tutored at the local elementary schools. She has always loved working with students, but the high point in teaching, for her, comes when a student who is struggling to understand a concept finally “gets it” and is able to succeed. There is nothing like success to build a student’s self confidence.
Mrs. Van Kleeck has many interests besides teaching. She enjoys watching most sports both on the field and on TV. She likes the winter sports of skiing, skating, and snowshoeing. In the spring and summer she likes to fish and is learning how to play golf. Her hobbies also include traveling, reading, photography, sewing crafts and viewing nature.
