Mrs. Hietala is our kindergarten teacher. This is her twelfth year of teaching here in Chassell, and her twenty-second year of teaching overall. She loves to teach at the lower elementary level. Her favorite subject to teach is Math because of all the fun activities that go with it. Mrs. Hietala focuses on beginning at the level the student is on and taking them as far as they can go. Her greatest reward is working with a student who doesn't understand something until they finally do get it. She loves to see the smile on their face when they really do understand.
Mrs. Hietala loves to read and she tries very hard to instill the love of reading into her students. Her classroom is filled with books in all subject areas and by many different authors.
When Mrs. Hietala is not in school she is very busy with her family. She and her husband, Brian, have four children. They love to go camping, shopping, or spending the day at the beach. She and her husband enjoy quiet, peaceful rides on their motorcycle. In the winter Mrs. Hietala loves to curl up by the fire with some hot chocolate and a good book. Following the summer season, the Christmas holiday is her favorite time of year. |

Lesson Plans |
| |
Your child will need the following items for school this year:
-a backpack
-a pair of clean gym shoes
-an old shirt for painting
-one box of Crayola crayons
Other items that we could also use in our classroom include:
-boxes of kleenix
-paper plates
-napkins
-Ziplock baggies (gallon, quart, sandwich, & snack size)
-Hand sanitizer
-Sanitized wipes
