Kendra Turpeinen attended Bethel University in St. Paul, MN and majored in English Education for grades 7-12. In April 2007, she completed her Master’s in Teaching from Marygrove College in Detroit. She is also a Teacher Consultant for the Upper Peninsula Writing Project. Her experiences in the classroom include teaching overseas, in the inner city, and at the college level, as well as at Chassell High School.
She always knew she wanted to be a teacher. She loves helping people and watching her students grow. She has learned a lot from her students as they share their writing and ideas in class. Her favorite part of her job is helping students with their writing.
She lives in Arnheim with her husband and two sons. Her hobbies include gardening, writing (she’s working on a book), traveling, cross country skiing, and playing the piano.
Mrs. Turpeinen thinks that students hold the potential they will need in order to be successful. Potential alone doesn’t get you anywhere; developing and using your potential is what brings success. She hopes students realize they shouldn’t be lazy and selfish with their talents. They have so much they can do to make the world a better place.
Her favorite quote: “What lies behind you and what lies ahead of you are a small matter compared to what lies within you.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson
